Love INC Project Assessor Job Description
A Love INC Project Assessor is a volunteer who can be available two to four hours per week. This person is willing to work under the direction of MWAM Project Coordinator, Jerry Owens.
The description of his/her duties is as follows:
When Love INC receives a call for a project need that is larger than one volunteer from the church is capable of handling, Kathy McIlhargey will contact Jerry Owens.
Jerry will give the Project Assessor the contact information, and he will contact the client by phone to set an appointment to meet with the client in their home.
The Project Assessor assesses the real need by asking the questions provided on the project questionnaire. With the objective to qualify the need, determine if the job can be completed in one or two Saturdays from 8:00-4:00, and identify the client’s expectations, then set boundaries for what can and cannot be done by the men.
The Project Assessor’s role is to assess the physical work that needs to be done and the expected cost for materials, but does not make any commitments to the client. Project Assessor then communicates the questionnaire and project needs back to Jerry.
At this point the Project Assessor’s job is done, unless the MWAM Key Man needs more information when assembling a team to do the project.
Attributes needed to be an effective MWAM Project Assessor:
- Knows Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
- Faithful to follow through when given a client assessment, (timeline needs to be within one week.)
- Have a ministry mindset and able to relate well with various types of people, and able to be non committal about the project at first visit with client, but to get the information to Kathy so that she can make a good decision about the project.
- Have some experience in evaluating time and cost of small projects.
- Communicate well with people.
- Available couple of times per month for evaluating clients.
- Possess some construction background.
